For over a quarter of a century, a tree planting revolution has been taking place in the Midlands. Since our first tree was planted in 1991, nine million more have followed, changing our landscape from black to green. The National Forest is a place of transformation, showing how trees can transform not only the landscape, but also, vitally, people’s lives and the local economy. By partnering with us, you become part of our invaluable network of support that is helping to create a forest environment, support our forest communities and ensure a sustainable forest economy.
We call this network: Mycelium – the enterprise ecosystem of the National Forest.
What is Mycelium?
New research tells us that trees are linked together through a complex underground network of tiny threads called Mycelium. Through these connections, trees can share nutrients, water and even warn each other of danger. The evidence so far suggests that being part of this network makes trees more resilient. That’s why we’ve created our own Mycelium ecosystem of enterprising organisations that want to support the Forest and each other, to grow and become more sustainable.
How to get involved
All Mycelium partnerships are subject to an ethical check which includes gaining an understanding of your approach to sustainability and how you are reducing your environmental impact.

Our work looks beyond tree planting – we want to get nature, society and the economy working in harmony in the National Forest, to act as a working model for others. We are looking to work with partners who think long term (like a forest!) and are looking to invest in a positive future. Become a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) partner
This package is built to help strengthen your green credentials. We’ll plant 20 trees for every £1000 supported, up to a maximum of £10,000.
