Someone's out there
The growing deer population is now a cause for concern for the Forest, as deer are especially fond of nibbling the new foliage of the thousands of young trees being planted across the area. The problem was the focus of a seminar held in Ashby in March which was jointly hosted by the National Forest Company and The Deer Initiative. The day brought together landowners and advisers from around the Forest to look at ways of working together and of managing the damage done by deer, such a putting up special deer-proof fencing.
