Enchanting Forest!

Members of the government and Forestry Administration of Guangdong Province, China, planting a ginko tree with NFC Chief Executive, Susan BellThe National Forest Company welcomed senior members of the Government and Forestry Administration of Guangdong Province, China, on a recent fact-finding trip to the UK. With a population of 78 million and under 60% of the land habitable, in 1985 they initiated a project to ‘green Guangdong’. Just eight years later they had forested all the previously tree-less mountains, and now promote multi-purpose forestry with a total of 260 forest parks covering a massive 862,000 hectares.

The group had expressed specific interest in seeing The National Forest in the UK and following a presentation and informed discussion on the creation and development of the Forest, the delegation planted a ginko tree to celebrate their visit, and toured a number of sites to see the Forest at first hand.

In thanking the NFC team for their hospitality, the visitors commented that the visit to the Forest had been “enchanting and the delegation fully appreciated what the National Forest Company has already achieved in such a short time.”
