Enter Forest South By Boat

Peter Moore, British Waterways, and Ruth Green, NFC, alongside the new sign to welcome canal cruisers in to the Forest.Cruise into the Forest by canal boat and you’ll know you’ve arrived! In partnership with the NFC, British Waterways has installed a National Forest entry sign on the Forest boundary in a picturesque spot by the Trent & Mersey Canal in Alrewas, Staffordshire.

Meandering along the 9 miles of the Trent & Mersey that traverses the growing Forest, visitors will have considerably more time to explore and enjoy it than the car drivers who speed along the M1 and see the original motorway signs, erected before hardly a tree was planted.

“We are privileged that our canal goes through The National Forest,” said Peter Moore, Customer Operations Manager, British Waterways. “It provides great opportunities for joint working, and as an organisation we enjoy a constructive partnership with the National Forest Company. We share joint objectives and aspirations for future projects.”
