Royal British Legion Marches In

Wreaths of poppies laid on track from the notorious Thai-Burma railway, a permanent memorial at the National Memorial Arboretum. The National Forest Company has warmly welcomed the fact that the Royal British Legion has taken on responsibility for the National Memorial Arboretum. This wonderful ‘living tribute’ to those who have served this country in times of war and peace, was founded by David Childs CBE fulfilling a promise to Leonard Cheshire. The idea took shape in the very early days of The National Forest and the two have grown up together. Now, with its future secure, the Arboretum is becoming an important focus for the nation’s remembrance. As a result of financial backing from the Ministry of Defence, the Arboretum is now free of charge to its many visitors.
