RSA Speads Its Roots

The distinguished national organisation the RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Art, Manufactures and Commerce) has celebrated its 250th anniversary by creating a new woodland in The National Forest, with the support of Cartridge World. Senior Fellows and Directors of the RSA joined local franchisees from Cartridge World to plant trees on a Forestry Commission site at Castle Gresley near Swadlincote. 2005 will see the RSA plant 250,000 trees throughout the UK to mark its 250th Anniversary.

The celebration has great historic significance: from the 1750s through to the 1820s the RSA encouraged tree planting across the UK, to replenish woodlands for the needs of the nation. Well over 50 million trees were planted giving rise to many of the woods enjoyed in Britain today.

Through their recycling campaign to ‘Plant a Tree, not a Cartridge’, Cartridge World's customers have already saved over 3.1 million printer cartridges from going to landfill.
