7 Million Trees in the Ground & Still Planting!

John and Irene Cox of Nottingham were taken completely by surprise when they were invited to plant The National Forest’s seven millionth tree.

They were amongst over 600 people from all over the country who had come to the Forest to plant trees through the National Forest Company’s Plant a Tree scheme.

The new YHA National Forest was ‘topped out’ when Kishor Tailor, Chief Executive of Leicester Shire Economic Partnership (LSEP), fixed a key piece of timber cladding to the exterior of the building. The 75-bed youth hostel will open later this summer, providing comfortable and environmentally-friendly accommodation for forest explorers
