Introduction

Forest Noons

Forest NoonsOne of the most stunning aspects of Landshapes' legacy in the National Forest is about to take shape.

Heritage Lottery funded LANDshapes project has commissioned internationally renowned sculptor David Nash to create a series of ‘Noon’ columns, one in each of the six landscape zones of The National Forest. Further funding for this exciting project has been secured from Arts Council England and private sponsor, former National Forest Company Chairman, Viv Astling.

Forest Journey

Forest JourneyThe National Forest and I have travelled a long way together. After what will be nearly 15 years we are due to part company at the end of January 2006 when I retire as Chief Executive. But what a fantastic and exciting journey it has been. All around are the physical and social manifestations of the transformation that the Forest has brought about – reported regularly in your Forest Scene. There can be no greater reward.
