National Forest Wood Fair

Over 2,000 people flocked to this year's event at Beacon Hill Country Park in Leicestershire. 51 Stallholders attended from all over the midlands and it is planned to increase this to at least 70 next year.

“People were buying beautiful tables, chairs, sections of wood for their own craft work; walking sticks, woven willow sculptures,” said Dr Hugh Williams of the National Forest Company. “The stall holders were delighted that they did so much business, and are eager to book their space again next year.

“The public obviously enjoyed what they found at the Wood Fair on the day, and we’ll be putting on an even bigger and better show next year.”

For next year’s event the organisers hope to increase the range of food available, maintaining the emphasis on local produce; extend the range of products for people to buy, and have more information available to promote the skills, products and facilities within The National Forest.
