Official tourism figures commissioned by the National Forest Company reveal that more people are coming to visit The National Forest - and that they are spending significantly more while they are here.

It may have been wet but it definitely wasnít a washout at the National Forest Wood Fair at Beacon Hill Country Park on Monday. Visitors turned out in their thousands for this popular event, an annual celebration of The National Forest and all things tree and timber related.

It was a blessing it hadnít rained in the night. But 6am arrived and the first spots started. I bravely tweeted ďCome and walk the National Forest Way in the dry!Ē - referring to the miniature version of the route we had laid out in the shelter of our marquee - and set off to the site.
