National Forest Company celebrates 20th anniversary

"It was all faith, it is now a reality. This is really quite an emotional day." Rodney Swarbrick CBE DL served as the first NFC Chairman from 1995 - 2001 and spoke warmly of the early days of the Forest, and of his delight at the progress that has been achieved, at a recent event to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the National Forest Company.

New Woods

New Woodland Takes Root in Wychnor

Montgomery Wood offers visitors fantastic views across the River Trent to Wychnor, with stunning views of St Leonard's parish church. This 2.3ha (5.7 acre) wood has been created by local businessman Chris Montgomery who runs a landscaping business based in Burton. Chris bought the land a few years ago and decided to create the woodland under the National Forest Changing Landscapes Scheme to provide wildlife habitat, access and wood for fuel.

Spring... my favourite season. Always has been and always will be, with the promise of new life, lighter, longer days and a hint of warmth. Then there's the colour - the gentle pinks of blossom, reddy-brown of new rose growth, and the spread of colour from emerging bulbs before the onslaught of green. And the song... oh the song!
