New National Forest & Beyond Visitor Guide Launched

Wednesday, 13th January 2010

The attractive A4 publication is packed with ideas for things to see and do in the Forest and surrounding area, with details of attractions, events, local food and where to stay, as well as the exciting new places to go in 2010.

There is also a competition inside to win a short break to explore the waterways that wind through The National Forest & Beyond, offered in partnership with Aqua Narrowboat Hire, based in Mercia Marina near Willington.

Over 100 representatives of local tourism businesses and organisations attended the launch and enjoyed presentations on branding, e-marketing as well as an update on plans for the National Brewery Centre (formerly Coors Visitor Centre and The Bass Museum) in Burton upon Trent.

Sophie Churchill, Chief Executive of the National Forest Company, said: “This annual event is not just to launch the campaign, designed to draw more visitors to the destination, but also to get the local tourism industry together.  It is a great forum to share ideas, forge links and work together to promote this very special place.”

The Visitor Guides are produced by the National Forest Company in partnership with East Staffordshire Borough Council, North West Leicestershire District Council and South Derbyshire District Council to promote the tourism economy in the Forest and surrounding area.
