"Holiday Weather at Last" - Official Forecast for the National Forest Wood Fair

The sun should be shining for The National Forest Wood Fair next Monday 27 August, when the marquees and stalls are set out at Beacon Hill Country Park, near Loughborough, Leicestershire.

Visitors can look forward to a great day out in the company of the Wild Man of the Woods, with his rousing songs and riveting stories; with Lea and Lorraine, two of the most expert chain saw sculptors in the country; with Diane and The Potions Club, offering nettle scones and hedgerow syrups.

Willow Withies, The Old Tool Store, Poggles Wood and Eco-Art are some of the other names to conjure with, lined up for this exciting day in the Forest.

“All the activities and demonstrations set up for the National Forest Wood Fair give a great sense of how The National Forest is developing and why it was created,” said Hugh Williams for the National Forest Company. “Increasingly, as the trees are growing and the woodlands maturing, there is employment here in the Forest, there is fun and adventure and a timely awareness that planting millions of trees in the heart of the Midlands is both an on-going and a bold statement that everyone involved is passionately concerned for the environment.”

There will be plenty of hands-on activities to try, from pole lathe turning to tree climbing, from bark rubbing to paddling a coracle. Exhausted all these? Then enjoy the tempting array of locally-sourced food and drink, and browse and shop for a wide range of wood products, ideal for the home and garden.

Have a great day out in the beautiful Leicestershire landscape of The National Forest. The Wood Fair is organised by the National Forest Company and Leicestershire County Council, and will run on Bank Holiday Monday 27 August, from 10am - 5pm. Admission charges include car parking and a programme and will cost adults £6, concessions £4 and a family ticket £14 (for two adults and two children).
