A single oak tree can support many hundreds of different species of birds, insects and other animals. But birds, beetles and butterflies love all the native broadleaf trees that make our woodlands so beautiful.

When you buy Plant a Tree as a gift you are helping to create The National Forest, a forest for the nation across the heart of the Midlands.  You will receive a personalised certificate with your own special message, and an invitation to a special tree planting event.  On your arrival you can choose your tiny tree, generally an oak, ash or birch, and with the help of foresters from The National Forest, plant the ‘whip’ as part of a growing National Forest woodland. If you prefer not to attend, the tree can be planted for you.

Plant a Tree in The National Forest is a gift that keeps on growing, and will be a source of pleasure for years to come for your family and friends and for wildlife.  It costs £25 which reflects the true cost of creating and developing the new woodland, including its future care and maintenance.  The woodland will always be open for you to visit, so that you can enjoy the trees as they grow and the changes through the seasons.

The National Forest is the boldest environmental initiative in the country, a forest in the making spanning 200 square miles of Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire.  Nearly eight million trees have already been planted - you can be part of this amazing transformation!
