Launch on the Wild Side - National Forest & Beyond Campaign

Tuesday, 21st December 2010

The event will be held in the zoo’s new function room – Windows on the Wild – within the wonderful Himalaya Visitor Centre and launch-goers will have the chance to see the many other exciting developments at Twycross Zoo.

Penny Wilkinson, Tourism Officer at the National Forest Company, said: ‘This annual event is not just to launch the campaign, but also to get the local tourism industry together.  It is a great forum to share ideas, forge links and work together to promote this very special place.’

The new National Forest & Beyond Visitor Guides will be available at the launch, which year on year continue to attract more people to the area.  These are bursting with ideas on places to take the family, heritage and history attractions, and suggestions for where to enjoy the woodlands and countryside.  The guides also highlight local food of the area and the many brilliant activities visitors can enjoy.

The Visitor Guides are produced by the National Forest & Beyond Partnership, which is the National Forest Company with East Staffordshire Borough Council, North West Leicestershire District Council and South Derbyshire District Council, to promote the tourism economy in the Forest and surrounding areas.
