People Run for Dean & Smedley

National Forest sponsor Dean & Smedley Family Pharmacies held a successful Fun Run recently to support environmental education in The National Forest.

Nearly one hundred people signed up to take on either the four-mile Fun Run or the gentle mile walk around the woodland at Rosliston Forestry Centre.

Money raised at the event from entry fees and sponsorship will support both the Environmental Education Project at Rosliston Forestry Centre and Community First Responders. The company hopes to have raised enough money for the Environmental Education Project to provide tools and staffing for family events like ‘Drop in Gardening’ and ‘Wildlife Watch’. The company has a strong commitment to health promotion and healthy living, making a Fun Run perfect for their fundraising campaign.

Lucy Dean said: 'We had a great day on Sunday and were thrilled to see so many people running – albeit in a bit of a heatwave – for two very worthwhile causes. The staff from the Environmental Education Project at Rosliston Forestry Centre did a wonderful job organising the event and we really enjoyed collaborating with them. It’s been a really positive experience.'
