National Forest sponsor Dean & Smedley Family Pharmacies raised £1,200 from their successful Fun Run held at Rosliston Forestry Centre in the summer. Nearly one hundred people signed up to take on either the four-mile Fun Run or the gentle one mile woodland walk.

Lucy Dean said: 'We are so thrilled with this result! The day itself went fantastically well, and now everyone has worked really hard to bring in a stunning amount of sponsorship. It was great to work with such a dedicated group of people as the Environmental Education Team at Rosliston Forestry Centre, and we hope that the money raised by the participants and their supporters will go a long way in helping the Environmental Education Project provide tools and staffing for family events like 'Drop in Gardening' and 'Wildlife Watch'.

Kate Allies, Manager of the South Derbyshire Environmental Education Project at Rosliston Forestry Centre, commented: 'We have a regular slot in the diary on Monday afternoons when we are working in the sensory garden, with a wide range of volunteers and regular groups that come and help us - and all are welcome. Thanks to everyone's hard work and enthusiastic participation in the Dean & Smedley Fun Run, we will have better and more equipment to help our work with these groups and individuals, for some of whom this gardening work is effectively a life-line.'

Rosliston Forestry Centre offers many attractive and fun activities that foster a sense of well-being, making the work of the Environmental Education team a perfect fit for Dean & Smedley's strong commitment to health promotion and healthy living.
