Last call for 'School in a Garden' competition

Friday, 26th June 2015

Vitax, sponsor of this year’s National Forest Wood Fair, is urging schools within The National Forest catchment area to ensure their entries to its ‘School in a Garden’ drawing competition arrive in time as the deadline fast approaches.

With an initial deadline of 30 June, the garden manufacturer has extended the competition deadline by one week - to 07 July - to ensure every school has the opportunity to enter.

“We know that this is an extremely busy time for schools as children prepare for the summer holidays and moving into a new school year, so we want to give them as much time as possible to enter,” says Colin Wetherley-Mein, sales manager at Vitax.

“The National Forest Wood Fair is a great, family fun day out but it is also educational.  We want children to explore The National Forest and the Fair is a great introduction.  We have four family tickets to award each shortlisted entry and every picture will be on display on the day for everyone to see.”

Coalville-based Vitax, has designed the ‘School in a Garden’ drawing competition to inspire children to think about their school as a garden.  It is open to children in Year 1 right through to Year 4.

The children have been asked to work in groups of no less than four to help bring their ideas to life. The winning group will receive £250 of gardening products to help create their garden with four runners-up receiving products to the value of £100 and £50.

Each shortlisted school will receive four family tickets to The National Forest Wood Fair, where the winner and runners-up will be announced on the day.

Held on Monday 31 August 2015, this is the second year that Vitax has sponsored the event.  For more information about the competition and to receive an entry form, please email:
