Call for new walks for the 2018 National Forest Walking Festival

Wednesday, 27th September 2017

The National Forest Walking Festival is looking for new walks to add to its ever-growing programme, as next year’s festival is shaping up for May 2018.

The National Forest spans 200 square miles of parts of Leicestershire, Derbyshire and Staffordshire. The Festival was established to celebrate and explore the surprising and varied landscapes of the Forest, and celebrated its 10th anniversary this year with a programme of over 90 walks.

Routes are currently graded Easy, Leisurely, Moderate and Strenuous, and this year varied from a one mile Teddy Walk to 12 mile day hikes across varied terrain.

Any walks leader who has a suitable route to offer, which tells a unique story about the Forest, and would like to volunteer to lead a walk as part of next year’s festival can contact Tor Adams at Rosliston Forestry Centre on 01283 01283 563483 or email
