Tree Planting Will Celebrate New Homes in The National Forest

Coalville-based house builder J A Ball New Homes Ltd has teamed up with the National Forest Company (NFC) to plant a tree in The National Forest for every new home it builds.

The completion of a new house is, in effect, the creation of a new home in The National Forest, either for newcomers or for existing residents. J A Ball will plant a tree to celebrate each new home that is completed. As generations of people live in the house, the tree will grow and develop along with them.

As the tree grows it will also contribute to the local environment. Conscious that the construction industry contributes its share of carbon towards the problems of climate change, by planting trees J A Ball New Homes Ltd will be off-setting some of the carbon produced in the construction of each new house. Along with continuing improvements in the energy efficiency of new houses, tree planting is a positive action and raises awareness about the challenge of climate change and how to address it.

Gavin Jones, Chief Executive of J A Ball New Homes Ltd said: “It is becoming increasingly apparent that we all need to do our bit to help the environment. Here at J A Ball New Homes we know that the processes involved in house building contribute to issues we face through global warming, and with this in mind we are very pleased to be working with the National Forest Company to help combat this problem for future generations. We hope that this campaign will also encourage those who live in these houses to be conscious of climate change, and how they might limit their own impact on the environment in the future.”

Angela Ashmore, Marketing Officer for the NFC said: “Concern for the environment is quite rightly moving up the agenda in all fields of activity. Tree planting is one way businesses and individuals can engage in climate change issues, through their line of work or lifestyle choices. We are delighted that J A Ball New Homes Ltd, a growing business here in the Forest, has chosen to plant trees in The National Forest, contributing to this major environmental project on their doorstep.”

The Company will be planting the first trees in March. Individuals wishing to discuss ways for their business to get involved with The National Forest should contact Angela Ashmore at the National Forest Company on 01283 551211 or visit www.nationalforest.org
