Derby Dandelions sponsored the project to create a Contemplation Area at Poppy Wood.

Derby Dandelions Bereavement Support Group was the inspiration of Helen Wathall, fifth generation of local family funeral directors, G Wathall & Son Ltd, who have been caring for the people of Derby and surrounding areas since 1858.

Derby Dandelions aims to bring people together to share experiences and to help guide others on a similar grief journey. It doesn’t matter if you are recently bereaved or many months, even years along your path, you are made welcome. The group is free to attend and offers emotional support with an understanding of grief, along with the practical help to give purpose and positivity for the future.

Helen Wathall, Managing Director of the local family firm, commented "Local community is very important to us and as part of my vision for Derby Dandelions Bereavement Support Group I wanted to create a place for everyone, not just the bereaved, to be able to capture the beauty of life and reflect on how life can take on a new shape. In the same way, we see the transformation of Poppy Wood, creating a legacy for future generations and making the most of what nature has provided."
