Ferrers Gallery

Great British Summertime Art and Crafts Exhibition
10 July 2015 to 06 September 2015, 11:00 to 17:00
Ferrers Gallery

Great British Summertime 10th July – 6th September 2015 Ferrers Gallery, Staunton Harold Estate, Ashby de la Zouch. Leicestershire.

This July and August you will be able to appreciate all that makes our British Summertime great. Come rain or shine, Ferrers Gallery will be celebrating everything British from seaside day trips to picnics at the park. Memories of wet and windy strolls or sunny dips in the cold North Sea are to be treasured with stunning seascapes and beach hut landscapes in shimmering glassware, whilst printed textiles will take you down memory lane with images of donkey rides, postcards, piers and promenades. Festival campervans will be depicted in metal and wirework sculptures, and coastal towns recreated using driftwood. Sea urchins and mussels have been cleverly recreated as silver jewellery, and individual glass bead pendants reflect the shoreline. Boats will be bobbing along in wood, textiles and ceramic, with fish in all guises following in their wake. Lazy afternoons in the garden are also remembered through pictures and prints of birds, butterflies and bees, while the seasonal burst of colour in the garden is brought to life through ceramics, felt, bronze and paper. But our summertime wouldn’t be British without a downpour so under a canopy of colourful bunting, beautiful umbrellas made of silver and enamel will also adorn the Ferrers Gallery shelves. Make a day of it and after visiting the Great British Summertime exhibition at Ferrers Gallery enjoy the beautiful setting of Staunton Harold. Grab an ice-cream at the deli next door and take a stroll down by the lake and National Trust church at Staunton Harold.

Ferrers Gallery is open 11-5pm Tuesday – Sunday (Closed Mondays except bank holidays) (01332) 863337

JCB Themed Maize Maze at the Adventure Farm
11 July 2015 to 06 September 2015, 10:00 to 18:00
National Forest Adventure Farm

Can you dig it? JCB Themed Maize Maze at the National Forest Adventure Farm.

This year the National Forest Adventure Farm, Burton on Trent, has teamed up with famous digger manufacturer, JCB, for their 12th annual maize maze. Opening on 11th July and running until 6th September, the 10 acre maze will feature an intricate design of a huge JCB digger and include three miles of pathways, viewing towers and bridges to navigate. Visitors can also take part in the maze trail to collect the parts needed to build a JCB. For smaller feet there will be a shorter mini maze in the shape of the JCB logo. At the National Forest Adventure Farm you can get up close to farm animals, explore the outdoor Funfield including a jumping pillow, sand pit and assault course and take on the drop slides in the huge indoor Play Barn. The Farm has also recently opened the Big Dig Zone with pedal JCBs, sand excavators, digger climbing frame and traversing wall.

A whole host of events, fairs and festivals take place throughout the year ranging from riverside regattas to scarecrow festivals, craft shows to classical concerts and flower festivals to bonfire bonanzas. There are also theatre performances, live music, concerts, talks and guided walks, food and drink fairs and folk festivals.

Don't miss the National Forest Wood fair over the August bank holiday, the National Forest Folk festival in July, National Forest Walking Festival in May and the brilliant Agrilympics at the National Forest Adventure Farm in August.
