Smith's Wood is a 17ha Tender Scheme site from 2000, close to Melbourne. It combines recreation with conservation and commercial woodland. Recreation is a key feature of this woodland, with a 5-pitch caravan site, mountain bike course, permit horse riding around the perimeter and a fishing pool which includes pegs for disabled users. The planting combines broadleaves and commercial conifers and poplar, which will provide an income in addition to the caravanning and fishing income. A smaller pool is set aside for nature conservation purposes and bat boxes have been erected in the existing wet woodland at the northern end of the site. Deer fencing has been erected to reduce the risk of damage from the local deer population.
