Snibston

Snibston is a 40ha site created by Leicestershire County Council on the former Snibston Mine site, near Coalville.  Colliery buildings, a loco shed and a large exhibition hall form one part of the site.  The Discovery Park includes Science Play and a museum of Leicestershire industry, while a colliery trail shows the pit as it was when in operation.

Elsewhere, a nature reserve and fishing lakes have been created at the Grange.  You can follow two separate trails around the whole site - a sculpture trail with pieces made from natural materials, and a nature trail with woodland, meadow, marshland and hedgerows. Over 30 specimen trees are labelled.

Dogs allowed in the country park only.
