The fourth National Forest 10K set off from Conkers on Sunday 15 September 2013.
The 10K (6.21 mile) scenic off-road route takes runners along the former railway, the Ashby Woulds Heritage Trail, to the young woodland of Donisthorpe Woodland Park. It follows part of the Ashby Canal, passing Moira Furnace to join the Conkers Circuit. Cutting through mature and young woodland planted as part of The National Forest, and skirting around Albert Village Lake, the climax is the fast downhill finish to Conkers Discovery Centre.
The 1-mile Fun Run uses trails within Conkers Discovery Centre and is open to children (and animal mascots) aged from 4 to 14 years old.
As well as prizes for first, second and third place for the 10K, there is also a team prize, course record prize and prizes for the veteran classes up for grabs.
The 2013 National Forest 10K Run and Fun Run was managed by Jack Rabbit events.
