National survey shows greater awareness of The National Forest

A recent national survey shows there has been a significant increase in awareness of The National Forest. A random sample of over 2,000 people across the country was interviewed in November 2012, establishing current levels of awareness of The National Forest to measure against a comparable study conducted in 2006.

The National Forest Company's initial response to the Government Forestry and Woodlands Policy Statement

This statement includes the Government's response to the Independent Panel on Forestry, set up after the consultation on the public forestry estate which ended in massive opposition for any 'sell off' of the public forest. Its publication seems to mark the calming, at least, of a pretty turbulent time in forestry policy for England.

Independent Panel on Forestry Final Report

The Independent Panel on Forestry's final report is published today. It proposes that a public forestry estate is maintained, under a new body evolving from the Forestry Commission, which will champion all the benefits that forestry and woodlands can bring. The National Forest is cited as an example of increased access to local woodlands, good community engagement and economic impact through forestry.
