Swadlincote man Brian Corten has developed a niche business producing shepherd’s huts using timber sourced from within The National Forest. Based in The National Forest, he will taking one of his stylish huts to display at the National Forest Wood Fair on August Bank Holiday Monday.

Montgomery Wood offers visitors fantastic views across the River Trent to Wychnor, with stunning views of St Leonard's parish church. This 2.3ha (5.7 acre) wood has been created by local businessman Chris Montgomery who runs a landscaping business based in Burton. Chris bought the land a few years ago and decided to create the woodland under the National Forest Changing Landscapes Scheme to provide wildlife habitat, access and wood for fuel.

Two thousand visitors enjoyed the National Forest Wood Fair at Beacon Hill Country Park, Leicestershire, on Bank Holiday Monday. Despite the rain, spirits remained undampened and everyone enjoyed the quality wood products, lumberjack displays, chainsaw carvers, horse logging and tree climbing.
