Independent Panel on Forestry Final Report

The Independent Panel on Forestry's final report is published today. It proposes that a public forestry estate is maintained, under a new body evolving from the Forestry Commission, which will champion all the benefits that forestry and woodlands can bring. The National Forest is cited as an example of increased access to local woodlands, good community engagement and economic impact through forestry.

Children to Get Arty at the Ashby Show with The National Forest Drawing Competition

The National Forest marquee at this year's Ashby Show will be a hive of creative activity as families take part in The National Forest's "Forest of Drawings" competition. The marquee will have everything children (aged between 4-11 years) will need to create their leafy masterpieces - pencils, crayons, pens and the entry posters for the competition.

Get in Training for The National Forest 10K

With three months to go until The National Forest 10K, which sets off from Conkers on Sunday September 16, it is time to get in training, is the advice from local running clubs. The National Forest 10K is a perfect introductory race for beginner runners but it is really important that training is built up slowly to avoid injuries such as shin splints.
