Entries for the "Forest of Drawings" competition will make their debut public display at the National Forest Wood Fair over the August Bank Holiday, Sunday 26 and Monday 27 August, but now organisers of one of Derbyshire's major arts festivals have just announced a second showing at the Melbourne Festival.

The Independent Panel on Forestry's final report is published today. It proposes that a public forestry estate is maintained, under a new body evolving from the Forestry Commission, which will champion all the benefits that forestry and woodlands can bring. The National Forest is cited as an example of increased access to local woodlands, good community engagement and economic impact through forestry.

The National Forest marquee at this year's Ashby Show will be a hive of creative activity as families take part in The National Forest's "Forest of Drawings" competition. The marquee will have everything children (aged between 4-11 years) will need to create their leafy masterpieces - pencils, crayons, pens and the entry posters for the competition.
