Walk Information
The Walk
By following this 6.5 mile walk, you will encounter the past and future of Burton and the surrounding area. You can see how the Trent and Mersey Canal played a part in the town's industrial history and how old gravel workings have been transformed into a nature reserve.
You will pass historic Sinai House, enjoy wonderful views from the Needwood scarp, pass through Ancient Woodlands and complete the links with the future by visiting new woodlands planted as part of the developing National Forest.
Parking
Parking is available at Branston Water Park, Bass Millennium Wood and at Shobnall Leisure Complex. Branston Water Park is reached by car off the A38 northbound. Follow the brown tourism signs. Access by foot is via the subway under the A38 from Tatenhill Lane in Branston. Shobnall Leisure Complex – from A38 Branston turnoff, follow Wellington Road to the roundabout with Shobnall Road, turn left and then right into the Leisure Complex opposite Marstons Brewery.
Buses
Arriva Midlands 811 and 812 serve Branston village; 407 serves Shobnall Road.
