Pear Tree Wood was created in 1997 to connect nearby Burroughs Wood and Martinshaw Wood. Although planted withessentially a mix of native broadleaved trees,conifers in the northern section blend into those at Martinshaw Wood, toencourage the movement of pine-loving wildlife, particularly moths.
This site comprisestwo adjoining Tender Schemes, created in 2006 - Gilwiskaw Valley Wood (12.08ha) and Tempe Farm (57.6ha).The woodland within Gilwiskaw Valley Wood has been designed to incorporate a range of species to create bold blocks of seasonal colour that will stand out for the benefit of visitors, particularly those who are partially sighted.
