Donisthorpe New Wood

A 2.6ha woodland planted by Leicestershire County Council on reclaimed land near the village of Donisthorpe.  The site is planted with oak, ash, maple, hazel and grey willow.  Alder has been planted as a 'nurse' tree, to shelter other species while they are growing.

Grass rides provide walks around the site and access to the banks of the damp subsidence flashes.  The line of the Asby Canal passes through the site, from which there are good views over the Saltersford Valley.

There is no car parking. Access is via a kissing gate of the B586 and is not suitable for disabled users.
