Woodland Economy Grant


The Woodland Economy Grant scheme application window will be open from the 4 May 2020. 

This scheme supports the development of the woodland economy in the National Forest through targeted investment. Funding is allocated through a competitive tender process that supports projects which achieve the National Forest Companies goals of increasing the volume and/or value of wood sales from the National Forest through improved harvesting, processing, marketing or sales.

Funding is available for a wide range of woodland economy opportunities. Examples include:

·        Investment in equipment for

                o   harvesting;

                o   processing; and

                o   haulage.

·        Feasibility studies (e.g. biomass boilers or new technologies)

·        Business planning and strategy

·        Product development

·        Collaborative working

·        Up-skilling of staff

·        Marketing of businesses (e.g. new website).

Businesses and organisations that operate within the National Forest area can apply. A clear business plan is required with applications to provide reasoning for the investment.
