Swadlincote Woods

Swadlincote Woods is a Forest Park in the heart of Swadlincote funded by the Tender Scheme, Single Regeneration Budget and private investment. It is a site where new housing, woodland planting and water features have all been integrated on one scheme.

Planting has taken place over a three-year period under the Tender Scheme to bring The National Forest into the heart of the town.  Surfaced paths give access for all abilities with arts and heritage features sponsored by local businesses planned along the paths.  A central water spine makes use of a natural spring to feed a series of shallow pools and weirs linked by footbridges. An existing area of valuable grassland has been retained and managed as a meadow.  A central area shows different tree species planted in square blocks as an unusual feature.

A leaflet is available from South Derbyshire District Council and a link to their website is on the right.
