Shilcraft

Shilcraft is an 11ha woodland planted in 2003, with fine views of the surrounding landscape from its hilltop position near Stanton under Bardon.  The wood comprises mixed broadleaved trees - mainly oak, ask and birch with rowan, cherry and alder.  Two hundred Wildstar Cherry (a fast growing and more disease resistant variety of wild cherry) are planted in one corner.  A pond in the centre of the site provides habitats for aquatic species.  Bat and bird boxes provide roosting and nesting sites.

Horse riding is available on a permit basis and a new bridleway link has been made to the adjoining Partings Wood.
