Newton Road, Burton

A successful Tender Scheme in 1996, Newton Road is new 4.5ha woodland in the Trent Washlands adjacent to Burton Rowing Club.  The site offers walks through the woodland along the banks of the River Trent.  Trees such as alder, willow and native black poplar, which thrive in wetland areas, form the majority of the planting in the woodland areas.  Wildflowers bulbs have been planted by the courts to add colour.

The site includes a play area, tennis and basketball courts. The remainder of the Trent Washlands can be accessed on the opposite side of the Burton Bridge.
